To mark the centenary of Isaac Stern’s birth, pianist Emanuel Ax, violinist Leonidas Kavakos, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma pay homage to all-Beethoven programs that were presented at Carnegie Hall in 1970 by the illustrious Istomin-Stern-Rose trio as part of the Hall’s Beethoven 200th anniversary celebrations. Three trio programs in March 2020 are now an important part of the Hall’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. This March 8 program—the annual Isaac Stern Memorial Concert at Carnegie Hall—features the Violin Sonata No. 4 in A Minor, Op. 23; Cello Sonata No. 3 in A Major, Op. 69; and Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97, “Archduke”
